Lyrical Thursdays: A Spider Bought a Bicycle

It's SPRING!!  Finally!  FINALLY.  I began to wonder if it would ever happen.  Yesterday I was working outside and I stopped for a while just to look out at the perfection of the day.  Sigh.  I love it!

I've been trying to ride my bike every day, for several reasons: first, you know, exercise and stuff. Second: it's a great way to run errands and bonus, it's great for the environment.  Third: it feels like being a little kid - cruising around, hopping curbs, seeing how fast I can go - it's the best!!!

At a stop on the trail I often take

Since I've been riding so much, I thought I'd share a poem about bicycling.  Now, I'm not exactly sure why the spider put an earwig on his back, but maybe it's like having someone ride on your handlebars? Anyway, it's a rather whimsical poem, and I love the 5th & 6th lines especially.

A Spider Bought a Bicycle

A spider bought a bicycle
And had it painted black
He started off along the road
With an earwig on his back
He sent the pedals round so fast
He travelled all the day
Then he took the earwig off
And put the bike away.
